Randomness for you since 1976
So after the morning sessions were finished at RailsConf, there was suddenly a burst of noise from the lobby outside the presentation hall. It… it was a marching band. I couldn’t see them, so I went outside and down to a lower door, but I admit I was not prepared for what I saw. The Extra-Action Marching Band is like an erotic, punk rock marching band. They must have been crashing, because the convention people seemed pretty annoyed with them. There’s really nothing quite like a marching band, especially one that comes with extra action.
Check out the Extra-Action Marching Band website. They are playing at a club tonight, maybe we will go check it out!
This blog is a dumping grounds for my experiences as a web developer, a parent, an artist, a writer and a human being. Maybe someday there will be something here that is worth your time, some sort of useful information or words that piece your very soul. Probably not though.

Actually, the conference organizers loved them… it was the *convention center* muckitymucks who got their knickers all in a twist. They weren’t crashing, either — my company, Pivotal Labs, found out they were in town and arranged for them to bring a little extra action to the conference…

That is what I intended to say, but clearly I wasn’t… clear. Obviously none of us seemed to mind, but it’s inevitable that somewhere, someone will be wearing a tie… and they’re always watching.

I knew they were in town for the club gig but didn’t know they would show up at Rails (should have guessed!). I heard the first few notes from inside a meeting room, recognized who it was and ran out to see them. It was strange seeing EAMB in such a “clean and tidy” environment; I had seen them at Burning Man many times and at SF Carnaval so it quite an odd experience in some ways. Let’s have them back next year!
